Molly Remnant
A mage with an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
An accomplished thaumaturge and helpful to a fault, Molly is constantly in search of new adventures and ancient mysteries to fill her journal with, especially when it comes to the folktales and mythos muttered and whispered. This quest for unwritten stories has been perilous and at times heartbreaking, but the mage has never lost her drive to unravel the mysteries hiding in the far flung and forgotten corners of the world.
Info / Hooks
• After cultists and criminals? Molly is in possession of a black mage soul crystal, but keeps it well hidden and describes herself as a thaumaturge for obvious reasons.• Have stories to share? She always carries with her a journal with at least a few blank pages, in the off chance she comes across a particularly interesting story, legend, or bit of folklore.• Strange magical signatures? Though it requires closing her eyes to focus on such things, Molly does have aethersight. Unusual or particularly strong aetheric signatures might be noticed by the mage.• After forbidden magic and relics? She is always in search of arcane texts, especially if they originated from Mhach or Amdapor. She can often be found in crumbling ruins, picking through the remnants of lost libraries or studies.• Her bookshop ( Mateus LB Ward 20, Plot 2 ) doubles as a safe haven and hiding spot for those who may dabble in darker magicks, and also a repository of illegal or questionable arcane texts. Of course, those looking for more mundane books are still likely to find something of interest among the books available to the public.• Molly is by nature a helper, and so long as your request doesn't involve reckless or illegal activity (and sometimes even then), she'll likely be willing to help!• Molly has a particular dislike for those who use their power or influence for the sake of intimidating, controlling, or causing suffering to others, and is likely to step in if she sees this happening.
Out of Character
Most FF friends call me Molly, since she is my main, but I also go by Nodgarb on discord and other places.
I love to be involved in helping others facilitate their character arcs and stories. Even if I don't have arcs going on with my characters, I'm happy to help shine the spotlight on yours.
If you have an idea for for an RP you'd like to involve my character in, feel free to let me know! It's pretty hard to get me annoyed or upset, and my personal RP courtesy kind of rules are pretty similar to a lot of people:• IC isn't OOC - Good RP and storytelling needs a little conflict, but that doesn't mean I have anything personal against you or your characters.• Talk to me! - If anything said either IC or OOC ever makes you uncomfortable or upset, please don't hesitate to tell me! At the end of the day, I just want everyone involved to have fun.• ERP/Romance - I have nothing against ERP, but it's not really for me. In the same vein, I'm not totally against romance between characters, but I'd rather not make that the goal. My characters are likely not going to be receptive to advances or flirtation out of nowhere.• Dark themes/Mature RP - For the most part I have no qualms with darker subject matter in RP, but characters suffering excessively isn't really my cup of tea, and I'll do my best to let you know if something has gotten uncomfortable for me.• Lore - I do my best to stick to established lore, but as someone who learned most of it through RP myself, I understand it's a lot to keep track of and sometimes it's easier to bend things here and there.
The Cryptic Keep
Located on the border between Coerthas and The Black Shroud, this bookshop is simultaneously out of the way while being an easy stopping point for travelers shaking off the last of the Coerthan chill or making their way into it.
The proprietress is always happy to have visitors, and seems to ever have a hot cup of tea ready for those who'd like to peruse the shelves or even just take a break from the road. The tomes in the Crytpic Keep are varied and occasionally rare. Manuals and studies on various forms of magic and aetherology, field guides for locales far from Eorzea, histories and encyclopedias on the strangest and most specific of subjects, recovered adventurer's journals detailing unbelievable events, and even simple storybooks. All of these tomes are available for purchase, though Molly has been known to trade in stories and folklore. As esoteric as some of these books may be, they pale in comparison to the collection that lies beneath it. Hidden away and made known only to those who show an interest in the forbidden, illegal, and heretical, is a library of dark knowledge.
Tomes saved from the fate of Ishgardian fires and Sharlayan vaults have found their way here. Molly is determined that this repository of knowledge be available to those who are determined to seek it out, and fashions herself an archivist of lost and forbidden texts.
